We are honored to have been able to sponsor the Kids Eat program from the USANA Foundation.
Even with school canceled in the Spring due to COVID-19, they continued to deliver 850 weekend bags each week. In addition to their regular program, they also provide temporary COVID relief bags to schools that had families under extreme distress. These larger size pantry bags were distributed to schools at their request and hand-delivered by their teachers and staff to the porches of their needy families.
We were able to help provide 400 pantry bags and 16,000 meals to those students and families in need throughout the Salt Lake School District.
We are grateful to be a part of such a great organization that helps make sure the kids in our community don't go hungry!
For nearly 28 years, Project HEART and Rabbi Benny Zippel with the Chabad Lubavitch of Utah have helped support thousands of at-risk teens in our community. Their work is inspiring, and we are grateful for the opportunity we had to donate $50,000 alongside so many others to help them both reach and surpass their goal with their Charidy fundraising campaign yesterday! Today is #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving and unity as an emergency response to the unprecedented needs caused by COVID-19. According to their official website, this new day is organized by Giving Tuesday and is being held in addition to the annually scheduled event that will still take place in December.
There are so many ways to participate from something as simple as giving your time to help a neighbor to donate to a cause close to your heart.
On this Giving Tuesday, we wanted to give a shout out to some of the organizations we love and have recently been able to support:
We are so proud to be able to support each of these organizations and encourage you to also take the time to volunteer or donate to them. Whether you donate with us or to your own cause, we want to say thank you for helping to make the world a better place today!
Last Tuesday, March 17, Brad Bonham, CEO of Walker Edison, sent out a letter outlining what the Utah based eCommerce furniture company was doing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In it was a call for nominations for those whose budgets were tight, but in need of a desk to successfully work and teach their kids remotely.
Since Tuesday, the post has been shared hundreds of times and the company has been flooded with email responses from across the nation. As a result, Walker Edison donated over 500 desks** to individuals and families!
Bonham commented, “Extending a hand to those that need is at the very core of what we do at Walker Edison. Please join us during this difficult time in lifting others by helping those in need. Let’s stay positive, safe, and healthy as we confront this as a worldwide family. We will survive this, together.”
**Walker Edison has now donated 750 desks. At this time, Walker Edison has reached an inventory limit and is unable to send more desks.
